We didn't have much planned for the beginning of the week, short of some regular work for Zachary. Some body had other plans though, and Zachary was sick Monday through about Thursday. He never takes naps even when he is sick, so he must have been feeling bad because he slept a lot.
Thursday we had planned to have lunch with John, and then go do some Boy Scout stuff by visiting the San Jacinto monument and the Battle Ship of Texas. I was a little worried about how Zachary was feeling, but he insisted we go. Lunch went well, and was topped off by ice cream back at John's office. We then took the ferry across to the San Jacinto Monument. Zachary is not hip on heights, so he immediately informed me he was not going to the top. I guess after further watching other boys enter the elevator, he decided it wouldn't be do bad. Off we went, and he enjoyed the telescopes and squishing a penny with a Texas emblem on it.
This photo took work with the finger positioning, hence the silly smile!
We were to head to Travis and Cassie's Friday, but I really contemplated going on Saturday because he was coughing so much at night. I didn't want to get Alex sick or anyone else. But come to find out Alex was on antibiotics, so the two boys were probably safe.
The boys played well together...well, not at first. Zachary, being an only child did not want Alex touching his stuff and Alex was having none of it. As a matter of fact, he was quite in to checking Zachary out. Things improved by Saturday, per the photo.
We had lunch with my cousin Amy and her daughter Lauren, and then headed to Aunt Kathy's to help some with the shower. We didn't do much, but I enjoyed being in the midst of the fun! The shower went great, and I think Leah and Scott had a good time. It was nice being with family, and to top it off, it was my birthday. I really enjoyed the day and hanging out with everyone. It made for a really nice birthday (age not to be disclosed).
