Teeth cleaning

The things poor Granmommy has to put up with. Not only does she say I am her worse patient (I'm not sure how that can be though), she has to tolerate the unending noise (aka whining) from Zachary. In order to quiet him down some, we tried sunglasses to help with the bright light & a blanket for the cold.
I count my blessings every six months when I go to see my mom. She really has helped Zachary along with visiting the dentist. I'm not sure what I will do when she retires.

Vacation

At last some time off from therapy. We headed to Corpus on Sunday to stay with my high school friend, Christina. She has four boys, which is a perfect play opportunity for Zachary and good visiting for the adults. Her boys were signed up for horseback riding camp, so Zachary got to go one day. He rode bareback too. I think he was nervous, but he did really good.

Zachary on Diamond

We headed to South Padre for the rest of the week. I like to go down there because I don't have to cook - that is a bonus within itself! I was trying to get a picture with Daddy, but Zachary wasn't cooperating. He was making these silly faces and then laughing.

We tried our hand at a little putt putt. I think the professional came out in John, but Zachary still beat him, at least keeping score Zachary's way.

But the major score was when we stopped for ice cream one night. There was a store next door, so we wondered around, and Zachary found a double-bladed light saber. Oh my goodness, the excitement. Granted he doesn't show much expression, but his sweet little smile said it all.

We were back on Friday with the weekend to take care of a few things. By Sunday, we were well rested & ready for the work week. Vacation does everyone some good. Next stop, Playa del Carmen.

Hospitality

Do you ever go somewhere that feels like home? Somewhere that you feel so welcomed, you don't really want to leave. Well, that was my trip this weekend to Austin. My Aunt Ruth is always so gracious when she has visitors. She is super patient with kids, and has a loving nature about her. I stayed at her home, and she carted me around pretty much everywhere, despite my offers to drive...hmm, maybe my driving is questionable?!?

And then there is my dear friend, Traci. She always tries to make things simple for me. She continues to recognize the challenges Zachary can bring, and wants our "vacation" to be a time of relaxation. She is considerate and giving, despite having three wonderfully behaved children of her own.

We had a surprise visitor Thursday when I got there. I was so excited Matt's scheduled allowed time to hang with us at Ruth's. It was good to see him. Thursday night we had dinner at Nicole and Adam's. Micki & Nolan, Kathy & Bill, and Lauren all joined us. It was my Scott Family night, despite not getting to see Amy & a few others. Nicole's house is even more gorgeous than her blog shows.

Friday, we went to meet Traci and the kids for Toy Story 3, Yogurt Planet, then some swimming at Ruth's followed by pizza, soda, and ice cream. My kind of a day!

Saturday, we went to Lake LBJ to check out Traci's new lake house. We had hamburgers, and then we went tubing. Thankfully, I don't think any pictures were taken of me and Traci on the tube. No reason to record that craziness! I think Robie did enjoy trying to throw us though.

And last, we headed to Trav and Cassie's. Always so much fun visiting with them and getting to see the kids. Again, not a real good picture of Elaina, but we sure tried with Zachary and Alex. And here's a good picture of light saber fighting. It turned out cute!

And back home on Sunday for a nap, swimming, working on a puzzle, and movie. I'm sure you are thinking, but how? The laundry, dinner, unpacking, etc. Once again, my "wonderful husband" (his new name), had a delightful dinner going for us. All our favorites...mac and cheese, broccoli salad and BBQ chicken. And my little helper was quick to assist in the unloading so he could get some computer time. I almost felt bad about the nap, but not too bad. John was sleeping too. One week to recuperate and then off to Padre for a few days.

July 4th

Not too busy with the rain. I actually enjoyed taking it easy. My sweet husband installed two, new "fashionable" fans this weekend. It was a delight to have that completed. We went to Home Depot to do a wood project. Zachary made a pretty cool periscope. We actually got to watch fireworks twice. Dumb Pasadena did them on Saturday. Poor people waiting last night. The parking lots around our neighborhood were full, and they were still waiting when we drove home from the Deer Park fireworks with our in-laws. Today, we are taking it easy too. Maybe some swimming and a little golf, but that is about it.

We are looking forward to our Austin trip this weekend. Can't wait to see family and friends.
