Go Texan Day

There's a snake in my boot! OK, not really, but what looks to be a stain on his shirt is simply water. Can't keep the child clean. He also added his personalized Sheriff's badge, thanks to Lauren and Amy from their last visit, and a recent viewing of Toy Story 3.

Austin Trip 2011

We made our annual Austin trip when Zachary's school was off due to a teacher conference. We made a quick change to our plans, and stayed with Traci Thursday night. It snowed and so Traci's children enjoyed the fun with Zachary Friday morning.

The children went sledding in make-shift sleds and made snowmen, as well as snow angels. It was freezing, so we were not out there too terribly long. But we got our snow fix, and that is all that matters.

On Friday, we headed to Aunt Ruth's and enjoyed dinner with Uncle Bill and Aunt Kathy, which was really nice. We could not seem to work out our schedules or the weather in order to see Micki and the babies. Zachary really wanted to see Olivia.

Saturday, we celebrated Travis and Uncle Steve's birthday. We were so excited to be included, and enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner. Matt was there too, and of course we got to see Cassie and the babies.

Zachary was quite content holding Eliana, but she was not having it.

How is it that I never get a picture of everyone I visit. It is super annoying! Anyway, Zachary was well behaved throughout the trip. And we had a really nice visit. Not too many places in a short visit makes for a better trip. I'm looking forward to our Family Reunion in June.

Brushing your teeth can wear your enamel out!

After Health class this year, Zachary honed in on a few areas of concern. One in particular was his teeth enamel. Grandmommy sent a note with John letting Zachary know he had nothing to worry about...

Talent Show

Zachary's school had a Talent Show last night. They had to try out and then the selected participants performed for the show. He did pretty good with a really hard piece, The William Tell Overture. We cut it down to about a minute and a half.

I'm very proud of him and that he does not get really very nervous or worried. He really just wanted to play and did seem satisfied with receiving a recognition certificate. Of course, I am a little biased, but I think he would have placed in the top 3 if they had handed out awards above 2nd place. The proceeds for the show went to Star of Hope.

Now he has decided to work on Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. Maybe he will be asked to play at Chapel. I just love that song.

Souper Bowl Sunday

Last weekend the Boy Scouts put out door hangers encouraging families to set a bag of food out on their doorsteps so we could fill our food pantries in the area. We did our part to help distribute them in one neighborhood, and will pick them up this weekend. I believe this is a nationwide deal. If you received a door hanger, please consider leaving a can or two out. The boys look at it like it is "loot" when they find a response, and you will help someone in need. Especially during this cold, cold weather.

Looking forward to the commercials on Sunday!
